Christina Whitten Thomas EXECUTIVE director of LWPA

An active composer, vocalist, and educator in the Los Angeles area for many years, Christina has taught voice, piano, flute, composition, and musicianship at the private and ensemble level. Her students are of all ages, abilities, and have a range of personal or professional goals. Christina is the Director of Worship Arts at La Cañada Congregational church where she conducts the Lighted Window Worship Choir as well as the Lighted Window Festival Choir, which performs several concerts each year.

A composer of choral and vocal music, Christina’s award-winning works have been performed by professional, community, and youth choirs including premieres at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Disney Concert Hall. She has received commissions from the Los Angeles Master Chorale Chamber Singers, the Golden Bridge, the Seraphim Singers of Boston, the Denver Women’s Chorus, the Esoterics of Seattle, Melodia Women’s Choir of NYC, the Middlebury College Choir, the Apollo Men’s Chorus of USC, and the Vermont Choral Union. Her work Resilient Voices, commissioned by VOX Femina Los Angeles, was supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Christina holds a M.M. in composition from the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music.

In addition to music, Christina loves spending time with her family, perfecting her chocolate chip cookie recipe, and re-reading her favorite books.
